Robin's Story

I'm Robin and I'm a non-binary artist. When I heard about Georgia's project I immediately wanted to get involved - it's always really irritated me how menstruation is almost always only talked about in the context of cisgender women, even though many transgender men and non-binary people have periods of too. I think that accurately representing these groups in media is vital to combatting the public prejudices we face as people of minority genders, so I was delighted to be invited to this photo shoot.

For me, menstruation just feels like an inconvenient thing that my body does. I don't associate it with my gender at all. When I was growing up I struggled a lot with which period products I should use - it took me until my 20s to finally use a tampon successfully! This resulted in me dreading school swimming lessons where you'd stick out like a sore thumb every time you had your period, feeling like everyone knows it's happening each month because you had to skip the lesson.
